RESUMO
Este texto examina o processo de transformação do horror em riso
incorporado nas charges da revista ilustrada Careta sobre os eventos que
compreenderam a Segunda Guerra Mundial (1939–1945). A análise das charges
pretende seguir os caminhos percorridos pelos caricaturistas no ofício de,
evidenciando seu posicionamento de esquerda na arena política, simplificar e trazer
para o popular/cotidiano os eventos da guerra que se desenrolava fora do Brasil por
meio da ironia e do grotesco.

ABSTRACT
This paper examines transformation process of the horror in laughter
embedded in cartoons of the illustrated magazine Careta about the events that
comprised the Second World War (1939-1945). The analysis of the cartoons intends
to follow the paths taken by cartoonists in the craft, showing his left positioning in the
political arena, simplify and bring the popular/daily the events of the war that raged
outside Brazil through irony and grotesque.
