André “Limão” Queiroz
Biography:
For more than 31 years André “Limão” Queiroz has developed and maintained a
reputation among fans and peers as a prominent drummer and percussionist in Brazil
and all the world.
Born in Volta Redonda RJ on January 14, 1970 and moving to Belo Horizonte in the
early seventies, he started playing drums and percussion at the age of 9 and began
performing professionally early in his teens.
He pursued a degree in Percussion at the “Escola de Música da Universidade Federal
de Minas Gerais” and holds a Masters degree with a thesis entitled “Stick Technique and
Coordinating Studies for the Drumset applied to Brazilian Rhythms”.
Since the age of 15 André has performed, recorded and produced with some of the
biggest names from the Brazilian and international music worlds including:
Milton Nascimento, Lô Borges, Samuel Rosa, Chico Amaral, Tavinho Moura, Toninho
Horta, Roberto Menescal, Naná Vasconcelos, Flávio Venturine, Celso Moreira, Stephan
Kurmann (Switzerland), Enzo Favata (Italy), Daniele di Bonaventura (Italy), Maria
Schneider (USA), Cliff Korman (EUA), Chris Stover (EUA), Thomas Rotter (Germany),

In 1998 he produced a recording with partner Robertinho Brant named “Renascimento –
UZ22” with songs by Milton Nascimento. It was released in the USA and Europe.
André was awarded first place in a 2007 Composing Competition (BDMG Instrumental)
that led to a tour throughout Brazil performing his own music.
André's interest in education has led him to develop workshops, master classes and
clinics, and since 2006 he has been teaching about drums, percussion and music in the
Popular Music Department and Percussion Department at “Escola de Música da
Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais”.
In 2011 released his first CD titled André “Limão” Queiroz.
In 2015 released his first DVD titled André “Limão” Queiroz 30 years of career.
