Resumo
Este artigo busca compreender a produção do discurso territorial no interior da geografia acadêmica e os
seus desdobramentos sobre a educação cartográfica no contexto brasileiro. O pressuposto básico é que a
aprendizagem se inicia com uma representação, com instruções simbólicas, mas só se realiza quando a
relação simbólica é transformada em agenciamento, eliminando o intermediário da representação, ou seja:
a representação não dá conta da inscrição corporal dos processos cognitivos.

Abstract
This article seeks to understand the production of discourse within the territorial academic geography and
its consequences on the cartographic education in the Brazilian context. The basic assumption is that
learning begins with a representation with symbolic instructions, but only happens when the relationship is
transformed into symbolic agency, eliminating the intermediate representation, i.e. the representation does
not cover the registration body of the cognitive processes.
