Resumo: O Instituto de Antropologia da Universidade do Ceará (IAUC) – atualmente
Universidade Federal do Ceará – foi uma instituição de pesquisa, ensino e
preservação que atuou entre os 1958 e 1968 desenvolvendo atividades ligadas ao
campo da Antropologia. O IAUC , impulsionado pela aquisição da coleção Arthur
Ramos e coleção Luiza Ramos, paralelamente às atividades de ensino e pesquisa,
constituiu um acervo através de coleta, de doação e aquisição de objetos que deu
origem ao Museu Arthur Ramos (MAR). O objetivo desta investigação é analisar os
valores, interesses e práticas que balizaram a constituição do referido Museu,
particularmente, entender o papel desempenhado pela coleção Arthur Ramos neste
processo. Desta forma, compreenderemos como se deu a formação de discursos e
sua relação com as construções de identidades, memórias, patrimônios e imaginários,
elaborados por esta instituição.

Abstract: The Institute of Anthropology, University of Ceará (IAUC) - currently the
Federal University of Ceará - was an institution for research, teaching and preservation
who functioned between 1958 and 1968, developing activities related to the field of
anthropology. The IAUC, driven by the acquisition of the Arthur Ramos collection and
Luiza Ramos collection, alongside the teaching and research activities, constituted a
collection from collectiing, donation and acquisition of objects that gave rise to the
Arthur Ramos Museum (MAR). The goal of this research is to analyze the values,
interests and practices that guided the creation of this museum, particularly, to
understand the role played by Arthur Ramos collection in this process. Thus, we will
understand how was the formation of discourses and its relation to the construction of
identities, memories, heritage and imaginary, produced by this institution.
