Charles Le Brun - Saber Cultural

CHARLES LE BRUN
Pintor e decorador francês, nasceu em Paris a 24 de fevereiro de 1619 e
morreu na mesma cidade a 12 de fevereiro de 1690.
Ainda jovem foi para Roma, graças à proteção do chanceler Séguier,
que o recomendou a Poussin. Em 1646 voltou à França. Decora (1658)
o palácio que Fouquet fez construir em Vaux; em Maincy, empreende
manufatura de tapeçaria.
Nomeado por Luis XIV (1662) pintor oficial, no ano seguinte funda a
Académie, sendo também o criador da escola dos Gobelins, para
preparar e enviar seus alunos à Académie de France à Rome, obra de
Colbert (1666), com o fim de difundir a estética de belle nature,
adaptação da realidade às normas dos antigos. Entre as obras de Le
Brun, salientam-se "La Récolte de la manne" ("A Colheita do Maná") e
"Le Serpent d'airain" ("A Serpente de bronze").
