The Verbs in English
Regular Verbs have the Past Tense and the Past Participle with the same "ED" form.
(Verbos regulares tem o Past (passado) e o Past Participle (particípio passado) com a
mesma forma"ED"
Existem algumas regras para a formação dos tempos passados em Inglês:
Forma-se o passado acrescentando "ED" ao infinitivo. Se o verbo já termina em "E"
acrescenta-se só o "D"
Talk / Talked (falar)
Call / Called (chamar/telefonar)
Arrive / Arrived (chegar)
Verbos cujo infinitivo termina em "Y" precedido de vogal (V+Y)não se modificam:
Play / Played
Destroy / Destroyed
Mas os terminados em "Y" precedido de consoante (C+Y), perdem o "Y" e recebem
"IED"
Rely / Relied (confiar)
Multiply / Multiplied(multiplicar)
Verbos terminados em Consoante + Vogal + Consoante (CVC),acentuados na última
silaba,dobram a consoante final.
Obs.:dica tipo vestibular-para saber se dobra “Ce Ve Ce” tem.(CVC).Percebeu?

Obs:um bom meio de saber a sílaba tônica é consultar um dicionário.Veja:
Usando o verbo do exemplo vamos encontrar
Permit (pe'mit).O que esta entre parenteses é a pronúncia e o sinal (') está antes da
sílaba tônica.
Outros exemplos:
fourteen (fo'teen) - watermelon (wate'melon)- O negrito é a silaba tônica mostrada no
dicionário como ( ' )
Verbos NÃO acentuados na última sílaba,mesmo que tenham a forma acima NÃO
dobram a consoante final:
Anger / Angered
Limit/Limited
Visit/ Visited
Mas Note Bem:Os terminados em "X" em qualquer caso,NUNCA dobram o "X".
Relax / relaxed (relaxar)

Affix / Affixed (afixar)
Consultando um dicionário você verá que se o verbo for Regular só é dada a forma do
infinitivo,enquanto que se for irregular o dicionário fornece as três formas.Exemplo:
Go (pt went/pp gone)ou seja:Go(past tense- went / past participle - gone)
Swim (pt swam / pp swum)- nadar
Work - trabalhar (verbo regular),portanto Worked,Worked
Os irregular Verbs,embora haja casos semelhantes,não seguem regras e o único modo
de saber é decorar,ou consultar um dicionário.
Para facilitar aqui está uma lista de verbos irregulares, alguns deles tem duas formas
possíveis no passado. Se você não encontrar o seu aqui,consulte o dicionário.
