magnifica gravitacionalmente a luz da estrela
em segundo plano.

When one star passes in front of another, it
doesn't necessarily look dimmer. If it is at just
the right distance, the foreground star gravitationally lenses and magnifies light from the
background star.

Observations of thousands of stars whirling
around the Milky Way have occasionally revealed an even more special event. Seven of
the nearby stars had planets, which also lensed
the background star. From measurements of
the extra magnification, we now know about
eight alien worlds, and can start to speculate
about their landscapes... and inhabitants?

Observações de milhares the estrelas que
giram em volta da Via Láctea por vezes revelam
eventos ainda mais especiais. Sete das nossas
estrelas vizinhas têm planetas, e estes planetas
também contribuem para a distorção da luz de
estrelas mais distantes. Medições desta contribuição adicional revelaram oito novos planetas, sobre as paisagens dos quais podemos
