A forma do Past Simple é diferente conforme o verbo é regular ou irregular. O Past Simple dos verbos regulares forma-se acrescentando –ed ao infinitivo. Exemplos: play > played watch > watched O Past Simple dos verbos irregulares terá de ser memorizado. Exemplos: be > was/were win > won begin > began Ontem o SCE jogou bem. Yesterday SCE played well. O jogo começou às 8.30 pm. The match started at 8.30 pm. O SCE venceu o último jogo. SCE won the last match. O jogo começou às 8.30 pm. The match began at 8.30 pm. A negativa do Past Simple faz-se com did not (didn’t) seguido do verbo principal no infinitivo. Exemplo: play > didn’t play Ontem eles não jogaram bem. Yesterday they didn’t play well.
