The haunted house
“Fool,” the man said to himself. “That’s exactly what they want. They want you to be white with
fear. Theay expect you to run out of this room before the night over. Make sure no one is playing a
trick on you. Chek the whole place.”
First he checked the windows to see whether they were really close. He looked into the
cupboards, on top of the wardrobe, under the bed - not a trace of anything suspicious anywhere.
He felt much safer after that, but as a final precaution he locked the door from the inside, stuffed
the keyhole with paper, and pushed the heavy dressing table against the door.
Once he was in bed he surveyed the haunted room. All was well: it was just an ordinary room. He
put the key under the pillow, tirned off the bed lamp and pulled the bedclothes around him. He
was now in the darkness, exhausted but happy.
“Good”, whispered a voice at his ear. “We don’t want them to disturb us, do we?”

supostamente assombrado, que o personagem não acreditava que fosse.

Questão de interpretação textual que aponta o clímax do texto onde finalmente o
personagem descobre que o quarto é realmente assombrado. Após checar todo o quarto
para ver se não havia nenhum truque preparado pelos amigos para assustá-lo, ao deitar-se
ouviu uma voz ao seu lado, afirmando que ele fez bem em checar tudo pois agora ele e o
fantasma não iriam ser incomodados.

Na questão, o question tag refere-se ao IMPERATIVO que está na primeira frase

sempre é “you”)

inglesa. A questão utiliza um pequeno diálogo no qual o primeiro pergunta:

- Os homens começaram a trabalhar na sua nova casa?
A pergunta está no tempo verbal PRESENT PERFECT que pode expressar uma ação que
começou no passado e perdura até o momento em que se fala. A resposta pode seguir a
mesma lógica e é exatamente o que o interlocutor faz respondendo: “yes, it is being built
now.” “sim, ela está sendo construída agora”. Nesse caso foi usado o tempo verbal
PRESENT CONTINUOUS, no qual expressa uma ação que está acontecendo atualmente, ou
seja, a construção da casa está em desenvolvimento.
